How to generate more income from ADSENSE by increasing your ad impressions and availability

Dear Diary,

today I talk about generating more adsense revenue.

optimising adsense for increased revenue

This post guides you through the different methods on how to place your ad codes to get sufficient impressions and increase your ad revenue.

It is one thing to have your Adsense application approved (click here to learn how to get your Adsense application approved fast), it is another to earn from it. There are essential things to do to earn from Google Adsense.

ad

Firstly, you need traffic. One cannot overemphasize the importance of traffic to a blogger. The adverts are meant for your readers. You do not simply earn money by just placing adverts on your blog or website; you earn money when the advert has either been viewed or clicked.

There are basically two types of adverts: there are those that simply earn you money once it is viewed by a reader and another that gets you paid only when a reader clicks on the ad to view (upon clicking on the ad, the reader is redirected out of your blog or website to the advertiser's website). There are other types, such as ones that you earn a commission when sales are made through your blog or website. I am not aware of Google Adsense initializing this type of ad.

Secondly, you need the ads to be seen. Following from the first requirement for traffic, your ads will not generate any income if they are not seen, regardless of how enormous your traffic is. This applies whether your ad is one that generates income through impression or through clicks. This is the subject of this particular post: this post is not concerned with how to generate traffic to your blog, but with how to make your adverts readily available, get more ad impressions and increase your ad revenue.

1. PLACE THE AD CODE RIGHT UNDER EACH BLOG POST HEADING

You can arrange your blog in such a way that once a reader clicks on a post to read it, an advert will appear right under the post's header/title automatically. Let's say a visitor visiting  https://yourbloggerdiary.blogspot.com   , he/she will see headings and little snippets of each post once in the blog.

The way it works is that the ad will not be seen by merely visiting the blog or website to see the posts therein. This will be against Google Adsense policy on the limits of adverts that one can show on a page. Instead, the ad will be seen once the visitor clicks on a blog post to see its content. Automatically, the ad will appear. While there is no plug-in gadget to activate this function yet on blogger, one can do so by editing the HTML of your blog's theme (click here on how to edit the html of a blogger's theme).

This functionality generates the most impression because there is no way a reader will miss seeing the advert once he/she/it clicks to read a post of interest. We will make a post on how to effectuate this functionality.

2. PLACE THE ADVERT WITHIN THE BODY OF EACH BLOG POST (IN-POST/ IN-ARTICLE AD):

Just as aptly said in the subtitle, the advert is placed within the body of a blog post. That way, a reader will scroll past it while reading your post. If the advert is one that generates income, you will sure earn from it. On the other hand, where it is one that generates income via clicks, the probability of having a reader click on it is high.

Who knows what will interest your reader? With the way Google Adsense AI works (usually, it places adverts that relate to what the reader may have shown interest in in the past or that relate to what your blog post is about), the advert will sure be relevant and of interest to your reader and may result in a click (do not encourage your visitors to click on your advert, it is against Google Adsense policy).

Please, do not forget that, compliant with Google Adsense policy, you will need to identify an advertisement so that your visitors will distinguish an advert from your posts or article. Also, please ensure that it is not placed beneath or above an image in a way that could be deceptive.

While there are many posts out there on how to do this automatically, I will sure tell you that most of them do not work. You'd better of doing this manually by accessing the HTML of the blog post (there is a post on how to access your post HTML and make any edits to it) and pasting the Ad code yourself as we did for this post.

I know you'd prefer a hack, but unfortunately none currently works for now. Once, I figure it out, I'll share. But at the moment, do it manually; after all, it is your income you'd pursuing.

3. PLACE THE ADVERT AT THE FOOTER

Some have advised for adverts to be placed at the footer, right at the end of a blog post. This is another way to increase your ad revenue, although I have not been lucky with this.

Just like placing adverts beneath a blog post's heading/title automatically by editing the HTML of your blog/website's theme, you can also do this by editing the HTML.

While all these work, their efficiency will vary from one blog/website to another. I will thus advise that you run ad experiments to determine which method works well for, since efficiency is dependent on a number of factors which include the behavioral tendencies of your visitors.
